Brenda Stephens

SANTA ROSA COUNTY - SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS

MAKE EDUCATION GREAT AGAIN

ANNOUNCEMENT

Speech given at the School Board meeting on 02/06/2024

Brenda Stephens from Navarre,

Good Evening. First, I am a proud American. My home country is Venezuela which has been destroyed, in the last 20 years by socialism and communism

Second, The United States education system is becoming weaker and weaker, ignoring the basic educational principles established by our founding fathers like Benjamin Rush. Prior to the 1960’s, the United States had the best educated people in the world. Today, we are ranked 13th according to the United NationsHuman Development Index from 2022

As are many parents, I am deeply concerned about the proficiency scores the school district received for the year 2022-23

  • The math scores were 63% in proficiency; indicating 37% failed
  • The reading test scores were 60% in proficiency, indicating that 40% failed

How is it posible that the district received an A- for the year?

  • The results show that 90% of our students graduated with those proficiency numbers and I haven’t even mentioned the Adult school percentages which are dramatically lower

The School District’s MISSION is: TO LOVE, EDUCATE AND

PREPARE ALL STUDENTS FOR GRADUATION AND A

SUCCESSFUL FUTURE”

  • But Today, education is sexualizing our children with inappropriate material
  • Homeschooling is increasing, and as a consequence, kids are not experiencing proper socialization skills
  • The Minority families do not trust our public schools, so they enroll their kids in private or religious schools in the area
  • I am especially concerned for the safety of our students in the schools that are at risk from the increased dangers of illegal immigrants coming into our area
  • I am as frustrated as the teachers are with the lack of appreciation for them and the staff as reflected in the difficult negotiations taking place with regard to their salary and benefits

I have, 30 years of experience in leadership in Human Resources. I have a Masters degree in Education from OSU, Oklahoma; and I am a former bilingual teacher. I speak 3 languages and I have lived all over the world and I am confident that I can inspire and encourage our students, parents, teachers and staff to provide the best educational experience for everybody because I believe that Everybody is Somebody& I CareI care about this country and we need the next generation to be leaders, thinkers and innovators

For these reasons and more, I am announcing tonight that I am running for Superintendent of Schools here in Santa Rosa County, Florida

My Goal is to Make Education Great Again! I invite all of you to visit my website, VoteBrendaStephens.Com
